About this speaker

While Lynne is a native of Black Mountain, NC, and has lived in many places across her home state, she has lived in KY, Missouri, and in Richmond, VA where she served as pastor of Brookland UMC for nine years. She was on the faculty as Coordinator of United Methodist Studies at the Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University for more than 10 years. Lynne holds Bachelor, Masters and Doctor of Ministry degrees. Her DMin project at Wesley Theological Seminary focused on Leadership Development in Smaller Membership Churches. In more than 35 years of ordained ministry in the Western N.C. Conference, Lynne has served as an associate, as pastor, as intentional interim, and as a District Superintendent. In 2018, she and husband, Neill, returned to NC where she joined the team of Neighborhood Seminary, a program of theological education for laity and clergy in pursuit of nurturing community, embodying Good News and cultivating shalom. Lynne serves as President of NS, and Pastor of Danbury Community Church, a small union church (Methodist and Presbyterian) in the mountains of Stokes County, NC. She and Neill enjoy living in Winston-Salem, with wonderful proximity and time to spend with family and friends from the mountains to the coast.
